Description A ‘small’ Pool House is a very small-scale residence, setting itself on a small area of 1125 sqft. Its design though, is an attempt to break itself free from the constraints of size. As soon as one enters the houses, one is greeted by planters and a tree, which is almost a non existent setting in such a plot size in the locality. Entering the house from its side into the living area, one is taken by surprise encountering a small pool that extends itself onto a viewing deck. On the contrary, the formal areas are concealed from the private areas and have been given their own separate views. The top floor houses the private areas and opens itself up in to unusual spaces through carefully planned opening. The house boasts a mass that dominates its size, adding volume to its scale. Its unique resolution of spaces creates a stimulating environment for all the activities in the interior, while providing them with access to reciprocal voids that let in sunlight, preventing them to be an ‘interior space only’.
