Description The UCA Sports Complex takes cues from the virtuosity of sculpting and landscape to develop a structure whose form and materials meld with the natural topography of the surrounding botanical garden and the outdoor playground. Proposing the landscape as an envelope for the programmatic forces, maximum advantage has been taken of the thermal control ability of earth. The aforementioned design strategy reduces the incidence of oral and visual contamination while allowing unobstructed visual access to the main University building and views of the expansive landscape from the main University building. The linear continuity of the sports building/landscape with adjacent botanical garden is a literal expression of the inherent simplicity and fluidity in landscape tradition of this region. The elusive nature of the design schema works rigorously towards cohesion of the landscape as a whole entity in its endeavor to pay homage to the monumentality of existing university building. Mud and grass with its physical sensitivity to the regional climatic environment is used as covering material along with concrete walls that signifies the truth of the construction process/logic.
